Students at San Jose University were on lockdown today after a man carrying a gun was spotted on the campus’s Sweeney Hall.
Pat Harris, the spokeswoman for SJSU, said that at this time only Sweeney Hall was on lockdown following the report of a white man dressed completely in black, carrying a handgun.
Harris reported that other students located around the campus were not affected by the lockdown and classes are continuing as usual. A text alert was send campuswide at 9:22 am, it read:
“Man with gun call – police checking Sweeney Hall – shelter in place.”
Ashliegh Nikol, a student from the university, told NBC Bay that three police officers had entered the classroom with guns drawn. One of the officers reportedly told a lecturer that the police were: “looking for a guy with a gun and to stay in class until the alert says we can leave.”
There are no further details at this time about the San Jose University lockdown or the exact location of the suspected gunman. WE will update this article as and when more information becomes available.
