AT&T Wireless Sold 10 Million Smartphone Last Quarter

AT&T customers — fueled by their desire to pick up the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, and other popular smartphones — helped the company achieve 10 million smartphone sales in the last quarter.

The company’s previous record was 9.4 smartphone sales, which occurred in the same Q4 of the previous year.

AT&T in a press release also claimed that the last quarter brought with it “best-ever quarterly sales of Android and Apple smartphones.” The company however has not broken down those sales to offer a comparison of iOS vs. Google Android devices.

AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega broke the numbers down further, noting that 110,000 smartphones were sold per day. De la Vega also revealed that some of those sales were helped along by Windows Phone devices, although he did not say how many Windows Phones were sold.

Full smartphone sales numbers from AT&T Wireless should be revealed on January 24 when the company holds its financial results call. The following day, Apple, Inc. will release its own quarterly results, which will provide further insight into the overall iPhone sales market in the United States and globally.

Verizon Wireless and Sprint Wireless, AT&T’s biggest competitors, have yet to reveal their Q4, 2012 sales figures for smartphone sales.
