R&B singer Raz B has come out of his coma and is in stable condition.
The former B2K member was on life support in a hospital in China after being hit in the face with a bottle at a nightclub. The singer — whose real name is De’Mario Thompson — was performing at a club in Zhejiang Thursday and was hit in the face in a glass bottle when he tried to break up a fight. The 28-year-old was arrested, along with two crowd members, but he was later released without any charges. He received medical attention and underwent surgery to repair a gash on his lip. His medical expenses were paid by the bottle thrower.
Friday, Raz B didn’t wake up, and his backup dancer rushed him to a nearby hospital. Doctors tested his brain activity, determined that he was in a coma, and placed him on a ventilator.
According to TMZ, Raz B came out of his coma Sunday , and was stable and responsive. He has not been released from the hospital yet, and will be staying a few more days to be monitored.
A representative for Raz B told TMZ that doctors said it is a miracle that he survived.
The singer has been living in China for the past three years, but said he was planning to move back to the United States before the end of the year to focus on comeback. Last year, Raz B fell through a glass window in his hotel room in Shanghai. When he tried to break his fall, he landed on his wrists and sliced them open. He was rushed to Huashan Hospital Fudan University, where he underwent five hours of surgery to repair his wrist.
After B2K broke up, Raz B released his first solo album, FIRE, in 2007. He released a mixtape, Boy 2 King, in 2010.
We wish Raz B a speedy recovery.
