Former Giants running back and current sportscaster and sports blogger Tiki Barber announced a split from his wife Ginny , to whom he has been married for 11 years.
Barber is said to have left his wife, who is eight months pregnant with twins, for 23-year-old intern Traci Lynn Johnson. The news about Barber is particularly surprising when compared with statements he made about his own father’s fidelity in a New York Post interview a few years back:
“I don’t give a [bleep] that the relationship didn’t work,” he said of his parents’ split in a 2004 Post interview. “Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that.”
Barber, who has two sons with Ginny, ages 6 and 7, released the following statement regarding the split:
“After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate,” Barber said. “This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known.”
A spokesman for Barber declined further comment on the matter.
