The Darrelle Revis saga continues. Trade rumors surrounding the NFL’s most talented cornerback keep running rampant. Some sources have him linked the San Francisco 49ers . Others have him being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The truth is no one really knows, not even Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik. When asked recent about the availability of Darrelle Revis on the trade market, Dominik responded, “I don’t know if he really is, honestly.”
Dominik was asked about Revis’ availability by Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan on their radio show . He told them, “that is a tough question for me to answer. You have to get [Jets general manager] John Idzik on here Pat and grill him about that.”
So, is Darrelle Revis on the trade market? Mark Dominik doesn’t know, and he was supposed be in negotiations to trade for the star . I guess that means no one really knows.
The Jets need to figure out what they’re doing with Revis. He wanted to be a Jet for life a few months ago and was shocked about trade talk. He also wants to be the highest paid defensive back in the league. The Jets have Revis under contract for $6 million next season, then he becomes a free agent.
The theory was the cash strapped Jets were looking to trade Revis for value now, while he’s under contract. Maybe they’ve changed their minds?
The Darrelle Revis saga is confusing. Is he on the trade market? Is he not? Only the Jets know and if Mark Dominik is right, only the Jets want to know.
It’s also possible the Jets want more value than Tampa Bay is willing to give them, but don’t want to cut off the Buccaneers completely. After siging Dashon Goldson, Tampa Bay’s need as defensive back is not what is was when trade talks started.
It’s hard not to believe Darrelle Revis is on the trade market. There has been too much drama and too many reports coming out of New York. Could Revis really spend another season on the Jets with the media asking about his future every week?
The NFL is a business though, and if the Jets feel it’s best to let Revis play out his contract no one would really blame them.
Do you think Darrelle Revis is on the trade market? Should the Jets keep him for the final year of his contract?
