The Bethenny Frankel divorce appears that it will become contentious as estranged husband Jason Hoppy has filed for primary custody of baby Bryn.
In legal papers just filed in response to Frankel’s divorce petition which was initiated in early January, Hoppy is apparently seeking “exactly the same spoils she wants from him,” TMZ reports.
Hoppy, who married the reality TV star and founder of the Skinnygirl line of margaritas on March 28, 2010, wants custody of the couple’s two-year-old daughter as well as child support from Frankel, medical and dental coverage, and reimbursement for his legal expenses (which could be large).
TMZ has further specifics on Hoppy’s legal claim in the Bethenny Frankel divorce:
“Jason is asking for Bethenny to foot the bill for medical and dental insurance as well as related expenses for himself and daughter Bryn. In Bethenny’s legal docs she asks that Jason pay for her medical and dental bills, as well as Bryn’s.
“Jason wants Bethenny to maintain life insurance on herself, making both Bryn and him beneficiaries. She wants him to maintain a life insurance policy for her benefit as well as Bryn’s.
According to the New York Post , Hoppy also wants exclusive use of their $5 million SoHo loft in New York City.
In a typical divorce, and this one of course may not be typical, joint custody of the children is presumed although one of the ex-spouses usually receives primary physical custody.
Are you at all surprised that the Bethenny Frankel divorce from Jason Hoppy seems to be getting argumentative so soon? How do you think that this legal tug-of-war will end up?
