Houston Texans vs. Denver Broncos: 5 Bold Predictions For Week 7 Of 2016 NFL Season

Published on: October 22, 2016 at 9:16 PM

It seems like it was only yesterday that American football aficionados were waiting for what felt like an eternity for the NFL season to start.

Yet, here we are, heading into a Week 7 that projects to be laden with enough storylines and plot twists to make the 2016 presidential election cycle jealous.

In Week 7, the AFC South-leading Houston Texans travel to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football .

The 4-2 Texans head into the showdown with some momentum after pulling off a miraculous comeback against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.

In contrast, the Denver Broncos have been struggling of late, and have lost their past two games to drop to 4-2 after starting the season with four straight wins.

So, will Bill O’Brien’s bunch make a statement with a crucial road win, or will Gary Kubiak’s Broncos right the ship and hold serve with a humongous home victory against his former team in front of the Sports Authority Field at Mile High faithful?

Find out with these five bold predictions.

Trevor Siemian Electrifies

Trevor Siemian’s been inconsistent thus far in 2016 as Denver’s starter, and at times has looked completely lost.

However, he’s tallied a respectable 1,054 yards and seven TDs (just three INTs) in five starts, one of which he was knocked out of early on against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Many NFL experts are certain Siemian will struggle against Houston’s solid defense, but keep in mind Trevor carved the Cincinnati Bengals to shreds for 312 yards and four TDs in Week 3, so he’s not going to cower against a stout opponent.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak firmly believes Siemian’s left shoulder injury has improved.

As a result, I’m expecting healthier Trevor to electrify against Houston, ultimately tallying 300 yards and three TDs.

Lamar Miller Nowhere To Be Found

Lamar Miller had his best game as a member of the Houston Texans in Week 6, finishing with 149 rushing yards and one TD on the ground, to go along with three receptions for 29 yards in the pass attack.

Normally, I would say this is a good sign for Miller’s chances in Week 7.

However, the Texans have struggled to maintain any semblance of consistency on offense this season, and are facing an opponent in the Denver Broncos that can be incredibly stingy on defense at home

The Broncos haven’t been great against the run in 2016, but you can expect that to change this week as they hold Lamar to under 75 total yards and no scores.

Brock Osweiler Pulls What Can Only Be Described As A Vanishing Act

For the most part, Brock Osweiler has made Broncos President John Elway look especially wise for neglecting to meet his contract demands over the offseason.

Thus far with the Houston Texans, Osweiler has accumulated an adequate 1,402 yards and eight TDs, but has thrown for an absolutely devastating and alarming eight INTs.

Expect the Broncos to focus on overwhelming Osweiler with immense pocket pressure, which will force him into at least three completely boneheaded interceptions.

Broncos Pass Rush Runs Roughshod, Tallies Six Sacks

It’s no secret that the Denver Broncos have one of the NFL’s premier pass rushes. According to ESPN , the Broncos lead the league with 21 sacks thus far in 2016.

And you better believe Von Miller and Co. want to put a bruising on Osweiler after he spurned the Broncos over the offseason.

Expect Denver to have Brock running for his life all game. It will shock me if he’s not sacked at least six times, and hit around 10-14 times overall.

Broncos Win By No Less Than 10 Points

According to Football Locks , the swell folks in Las Vegas favor Denver by eight points at home against Houston, which makes plenty of sense.

However, I firmly believe Denver, led by an electrifying performance by Trevor Siemian, an unbelievable showing from its pass rush, and some stingy play against the run from its front seven, will be in control of this one from start to finish, and will ultimately pull away early in the fourth quarter to secure a victory by no less than 10 points.

And the Texans will head home on a sad flight wondering if they are truly capable of competing against the AFC’s elite teams in the playoffs.
