Rumors earlier today stated that Mike Myers and Dana Carvey looked set to reprise the roles that propelled them into the Hollywood mainstream, by starring in Wayne’s World 3. But it has now been confirmed that this news was fabricated.
It was believed that Myers had finished the first draft of the script for the sequel to 1993’s, Wayne’s World 2, and that the story would focus on the move of Wayne’s show from cable to the internet, the duo’s attempts to get to grips with the new era of music and Wayne’s troubled marriage to Cassandra.
However this claims have now been flatly denied, and it’s been confirmed that the story is indeed a hoax.
Firstshowing.net stated, “The story claims to originate from a real EW reporter named Laura Hertzfeld, but any follow-up resulted in dead ends due to a faulty e-mail address from where the story came. And then, after contacting another EW reporter, Anthony Breznican, who talked to Hertzfeld and revealed, ‘She had no idea, so it’s a hoax from our perspective.”
Myers is also believed to have been working on a follow up to 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember, but there has been little development with the project.
Both Carvey and Myers have struggled at the box-office in recent years. Myers last release came in the shape of The Love Guru, which was awarded several Razzies for being the worst movie of the year. Whilst the last film that Carvey starred in, Jack And Jill, was also panned by the critics.
Would you like to see another Wayne’s World movie? Could Myers and Carvey still pull it off?
