A new ad featuring Pamela Anderson has been banned in the UK by the Advertising Standards Authority for being sexually explicit.
The ASA said that the ad, which features Pamela Anderson getting covered in cream during a fantasy sequence, was causing “harm and offense.”
The ASA said : “(The man in the ad) viewed his female colleagues as sexual objects to be lusted after… The ad was likely to cause serious offense to some viewers on the basis that it was sexist and degrading to women.”
The Guardian reports that the ad, which you can watch below, was created by Dreamscape Networks for the web hosting service CrazyDomains.co.UK. The racy commercial was given cleared by Clearcast to run after 9pm but the ad soon received several complaints.
Dreamscape defended the commercial saying that Pamela Anderson and her female colleagues were purposefully depicted as beautiful and powerful while the male character was depicted as weak and nerdy. Dreamscape said that Anderson was clearly the boss in the ad and that there was nothing “gratuitous or pornographic” about the commercial.
Here’s the banned Pamela Anderson ad. Do you think it’s too hot for TV? Is it degrading to women?
