A teaser trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming comedy Turbo has been released onto the internet, Cinema Blend is reporting .
Although the teaser trailer doesn’t really show you anything in regards to the plot, at least you do get a chance to see Ryan Reynolds portray a talking snail. Don’t be misled by the way the clip opens; the slow-moving hero makes his appearance towards the end of the teaser.
The official synopsis describes the story as follows:
“From the makers of ‘Madagascar’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’, ‘Turbo’ is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.”
Executives over at DreamWorks Animation are no doubt hoping Turbo performs much better at the box office than the studio’s recent endeavor Rise of the Guardians . The film, which brought together the likes of Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, hasn’t generated the sort of money producers had anticipated.
Since Turbo has a theme that is a bit more accessible to prospective moviegoers — winning the proverbial race against all odds — chances are this particular animated outing will fare a little better at the box office. Plus, it has Ryan Reynolds as a talking snail.
According to the folks at Coming Soon , the film also features the voice talents of Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg, and Samuel L. Jackson. That’s an impressive roster to say the least.
