Country superstar Carrie Underwood will pay tribute to the victims of the recent Oklahoma tornado disaster when she appears at the CMT Music Awards.

The country songstress says she will perform her new single “See You Again” but will recast it as a somber memorial to the victims of the natural disaster. The song will be performed alongside two dozen choir members from Nashville’s Christ Church.

As Carrie Underwood offers her Oklahoma tornado tribute fans will be asked to donate to the American Red Cross.

The tornadoes in Oklahoma are responsible for killing dozens of people in the state over the last two weeks. Immediately following the tornado disaster country music stars lined up to help. The biggest show of support to date arrived by way of country singer Blake Shelton. Blake and a group of his country singing friends televised a concert to raise money for disaster relief.

Carrie Underwood also recently donated $1 million to the Red Cross to help with efforts in Oklahoma.

The state holds a special place in Underwood’s heart as the singer grew up in Checotah, a town 115 miles east of Oklahoma City.

Speaking about the disaster Carrier Underwood says:

“The people in Oklahoma are really great. Tornado season is something that we’re all used to but you can never fully prepare for it. It takes what it wants and it knocks down what it wants and there’s nothing you can do about it except just try to be prepared. They’re just wonderful people and they’re going to rebuild and they’re going to bounce back stronger than ever.”

The CMTs air on Wednesday at 8PM from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
