Antonio Brown Injury: Steelers WR Sprains Ankle, Likely To Miss Chiefs Game

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is likely to miss at least one game after spraining his right ankle in last Sunday’s 24-20 victory over the New York Giants .

Brown, who leads the Steelers with 42 receptions and is second on the team with 499 receiving yards, suffered the injury while attempting to a haul in a deep pass in the first half of the game. On the play, it appeared that 24-year-old got his feet entangled with a Giants defender, fell to the ground awkwardly, and came up limping.

At first, there was some hope that Brown would return to the game, but his status was downgraded to “questionable” after the half and he ultimately did not return.

If Brown sits against the Chiefs, it’s likely Emmanuel Sanders will take Brown’s spot in the starting lineup with veteran Jerricho Cotchery moving up to starting slot receiver. After Brown’s early exit on Sunday, Sanders filled in quite well against the Giants, making a 4-yard TD catch and returning a punt 68 yards.

In related news, the Steelers will also be without safety Troy Polamalu, who will miss his fifth straight game and seventh overall with a right calf injury.

Running back Jonathan Dwyer, who sat out last week with a right quad injury, is expected to play and running back Rashad Mendenhall (Achilles) is currently listed at questionable for Monday’s match-up against the Chiefs.
