Ford Recall Affects 465,000 Vehicles

A Ford recall has been issued for 465,000 cars that could suffer from a possible fuel leak.

The company issued the recall after it was discovered that a fuel delivery module in the affected cars could leak and may result in a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

The Ford recall was issued after the company received 600 consumer complaints. Ford officials note that no fires, accidents, or injuries were reported because of the broken fuel delivery module.

Included in the recall are all 2013 Ford Fusion sedan models. Also affected are the Ford Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Police Utility and Police Interceptor, and the Lincoln MKS, MKT, and MKZ.

Only 2013 models are affected by the recall at this time.

A total of 420,000 of the vehicles affected by the recall are located in the US, Mexico, and Canada. The remaining 45,000 vehicles are located in markets around the world.

Ford also said it would recall 23 of the 2013 Ford Fusions to fix steering gears that are lacking an important internal retaining clip. Without that clip, the vehicles suffer from a higher risk of crashing.

Also being recalled are 500 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedans, which feature electrical cords on their engine block heaters, which can crack in cold weather, once again increasing the risk of fire and other issues.

All of the Ford recalls are being fixed free of charge. Customers can contact their local Ford dealers to setup a fix for their vehicles.

Half a million vehicles seems to be the sweet spot for Ford recalls: You may remember that in 2012 the company was also forced to recall 500,000 SUVs:
