Zachary Quinto rumors that the 35-year-old actor is planning on quitting on playing Spock in the Star Trek have been abounding ever since a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly . As The Inquisitr previously reported, Zachary Quinto is a playing a role in a hit TV series called American Horror Story . Some of Quinto’s comments have been making Star Trek fans want to whip out their phasers and add the actor to the red shirt count.
At the end of the Entertainment Weekly interview, the Spock actor stated he’s ready to “go in a different direction” with his career once his American Horror Story stint is over. He’s also finishing up with J.J. Abrams ‘ eagerly awaited sequel to the 2009 Star Trek reboot, Star Trek Into Darkness .
“It’s like an era of association with certain roles—a specific part like Spock, or a kind of part, like Sylar [his character in Heroes ]—is coming to an end,” Quinto said.
I personally interpret this comment to mean that he is not being typecast into a specific type of role. Regardless, this comment immediately led to the Zach Quinto rumor that he is planning on quitting Spock completely despite having many positive things to say about the franchise.
“It was bigger,” Quinto said about Star Trek Into Darkness . “It was bolder, I think, than the first one, and that was pretty big and bold from my stand point. I’m really excited to see what they do with it.”
Yesterday, Zachary Quintos took to Twitter to dispel this rumor by clarifying his statement, although he did not explain precisely how he intended to be interpreted originally.
“Simmer down kids. rumors are rumors for a reason quotes out of context,” Quintos said. “let’s let the second movie come out before we talk about a third…”
Let us hope the Zachary Quinto rumors are just that…rumors. Here’s looking to see Spock man the Enterprise on further Star Trek movies.
