Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently parents to six children, three of whom they adopted from other countries, 14-year-old Maddox from Cambodia, 12-year-old Pax from Vietnam, and 11-year-old Zahara from Ethiopia, and three of whom they welcomed naturally, 10-year-old Shiloh and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
“[Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] are putting the wheels in motion to adopt an older child from South Africa, Burundi, or Ethiopia, where Zahara was born,” explained the source. “They initially wanted to adopt from a more war-torn region in the Middle East, but the adoption process is much more difficult in those areas.”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship began on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith when Pitt was still married to his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, and in 2005, they went public during an outing with Maddox in Kenya. Although Jolie was the one who adopted Maddox years ago, Pitt eventually became the child’s adoptive father.
According to In Touch Weekly ‘s source, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning to adopt a child who is close in age to their six children, who range in ages from 8 to 14.
“[Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] feel that by adopting a child who is 10 or older, he or she will mix in better with their rambunctious kids, who are getting bigger by the day,” the insider dished. “[Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] also believe that adopting an older child will make people aware of orphans who are often overlooked.”
