Lindsay Lohan is reportedly hard at work paying off her tax debt. The beleaguered former Disney star has paid off a nearly $94,000 tax bill for 2009 and is making a dent in the money she owed for 2010. Lohan allegedly used the $100,000 that Charlie Sheen gave to her during her time of fiscal need to help take care of her tax bill.
The Liz & Dick actress did finally thank the former Two and a Half Men star for his generosity, TMZ reports. The lack of proper etiquette in the delay of a show of gratitude to her benefactor was reportedly blamed on a broken cell phone and missing contacts.
Apparently Lohan’s people were at a loss as to how to contact Sheen’s people. The actress allegedly sent a hand-written thank-you note and flowers after she learned of Charlie Sheen’s statements about not receiving even a text to acknowledge the monetary gift.
Lindsay Lohan reportedldy paid the federal government $133,000 in order to remove the $93,701.57 to remove the 2009 tax lien and applied the overage toward the $140,203.30 she owed in taxes for both 2009 and 2010, the Los Angeles Time s reports. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the star’s finances were frozen by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) due to the back taxes.
The Los Angeles IRS office issue a Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien after the 2009 amount was paid, Newsday notes. Both Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan could wind up paying taxes on the $100,000 because it is reportedly unclear if the money was a loan or a gift, Forbes magazine reports. The generous actor might have to apply the Lohan money to a lifetime gift-amount cap or pay a gift tax.
