Jackie Chan has hit the promotional trail to spread the word about his upcoming action extravaganza Chinese Zodiac , according to MSN India .
The acclaimed international superstar explains that the upcoming motion picture will be the last time he puts his life on the line for an action flick. For many of Chan’s long-time fans, the news that he will retire from the world of crazy stunts and cinematic danger is a little saddening.
However, if Jackie Chan is preparing to leave the world of deadly action cinema far behind, Chinese Zodiac is shaping up to be quite the grand finale. Promotional footage from the movie has been nothing short of impressive.
“I’m the director, I’m the writer, I’m the producer, I’m the action director, almost everything,” Chan explained. “This really, really is my baby. You know, I’ve been writing the script for seven years.”
Although Jackie Chan said that this effort would be his final foray into the world of extremely dangerous and life-threatening action movies, he insists his days in the genre are far from over.
“I’m not young any more, honestly,” Chan said. “Why (do) I have to use my own life to still do these kind of things? I will still do as much as I can. But I just don’t want to risk my life to sit in a wheelchair, that’s all.”
In order to remove himself from harm’s way, the actor explained that he will make use of computer generated special effects and stunt doubles.
Chinese Zodiac finds Chan starring as a globe-trotting adventurer looking for the 12 statutes taken from Beijing’s Summer Palace by British and French soldiers during the Opium Wars. The film is the third and reportedly final installment of the actor’s Armour of God series. American fans may know these films as the Operation: Condor franchise.
According to Live Trading News , Chan recently donated the props from Chinese Zodiac to the Old Summer Palace in order to fill the void left by the stolen statutes.
“These cultural relics are the common property of human beings, and nobody should steal and loot these treasures for selfish desires,” said at the dedication ceremony.
Chinese Zodiac starring Jackie Chan opens in China on December 20. North American fans will likely get an opportunity to see the film sometime next year. The latest trailers for the action-packed adventure has been embedded below.
