The Dukes of Hazzard reunion was a huge hit with thousands of diehard fans who converged in Peach County, Georgia for the celebration. The event was held throughout the past weekend at the Old Middle Georgia Speedway near Macon.
Fans donned the costumes of their favorite Dukes of Hazzard characters. The popular television show ran from 1979 to 1985. Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke still attract a multi-generational set of fans. Young and old alike offered their best renditions of the catchy television show theme song. Throngs of fans lined up for a chance to sit inside the General Lee and honk the horn.
Catherine Bach, who played Daisy Duke, still attracted whistles from male fans eager to make her acquaintance. Women of various ages noted that the Daisy Duke character has sex appeal, but was not “dirty.” Fans of the Dukes of Hazzard character also frequently noted that Bach’s character exhibited both an appealing femininity and toughness at the same time.
James Best, who played Roscoe P. Coltrane said that when even when he travels to Europe, Dukes of Hazzard fans have come up to him an imitated Roscoe’s trademark laugh. Best was a renowned character during the 1970s, and is also well-known for playing alongside Burt Reynolds in the Hooper , a hit movie about Hollywood stuntmen.
College students and children who are far too young to have watched the Dukes of Hazzard during its original run, appeared to be just as passionate about the series as their parents. A duo of college girls noted that the show was something the entire family could watch together.
The pair of young woman also stated that family-friendly shows are something that aren’t offered to often anymore on television.

The television show as turned into a Dukes of Hazzard movie in 2005. The film starred Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke, Seann William Scott as Bo Duke, and Johnny Knoxville as Luke Duke.
