Shellie Zimmerman Doubts George Zimmerman Self Defense Claim

Shellie Zimmerman doubts her husband George’s self defense story.

When George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin, he claimed to be upholding Florida’s “stand your ground” law and acting in self defense.

The “stand your ground” law states that if you truly believe your life was in danger, you have the right to claim self defense in cases of murder. George Zimmerman’s self defense was based on that, and, as a result, he was awarded a verdict of “not guilty.”

Shellie Zimmerman’s doubts seem to be well founded, as George Zimmerman has been accused of acting out of racism, as previously reported by The Inquisitr . Comedian Bill Cosby piped in, however, and said that Zimmerman’s racist judgment hasn’t been proven, defying the beliefs of the NAACP.

After announcing the pending divorce, Shellie Zimmerman claims her eyes have been opened and she no longer sees George Zimmerman as the upstanding man she claimed him to be. A big spat caused Shellie Zimmerman to doubt George Zimmerman’s self defense claim, saying she isn’t sure she really knew him at all.

Shellie Zimmerman told Today ‘s Matt Lauer, “ This person that I’m married to , that I’m divorcing, I’ve kind of realized now that I don’t know him. And I really don’t know what he’s capable of.”

This came after Shellie Zimmerman had called the police earlier this month to report that George Zimmerman had threatened her over the phone with a gun. Police reports claim that he hadn’t actually had a gun and she never saw it.

This could prove a turning point in the case as Shellie Zimmerman had earlier claimed George Zimmerman had not racially profiled Trayvon Martin, and now she has stated:

“I think anyone would doubt that innocence because I don’t know the person that I’ve been married to. I have doubts, but I also believe the evidence.”

They say love is blind, and now that the blinders are off due to the divorce, Shellie Zimmerman doubts George Zimmerman’s self defense story.
