At UFC 200, Brock Lesnar made his return to the octagon and defeated the “Super Samoan” Mark Hunt by decision. Since then, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has reported that Brock Lesnar has tested positive for anti-estrogen. UFC competitor Jon Jones also tested positive for anti-estrogen; anti-estrogen is used by athletes who often use steroids or other performance enhancing drugs (PED). Mark Hunt has been very vocal and enraged over this situation and recently spoke to Fox Sports Australia and demanded half of the purse money from that fight.
“I said [to the UFC] ‘If you don’t give me half his s*** [purse], I’m walking away from this company. I want out of here. This is rubbish.’ You [UFC] better do something…You guys are just making a mockery out of us, you’re making a fool out of me, you make me look like an idiot.”
Complex Sportsreported that the UFC will not be fining Lesnar or Jones, but rather, individual state athletic commissions will issue any potential fines. As many speculated it would, this enraged Mark Hunt even more. Mark Hunt was a guest on The MMA Houron Monday, and as MMA Fightingreported, Hunt unloaded on Brock Lesnar and the UFCin an epic and controversial rant.
“Before the fight I was assuming he [Lesnar] was cheating. Look at him. There’s no way that guy makes 265 pounds. That guy is a gimp, he’s sticking needles in his a** like the rest of these cheaters. And the thing about that is, he’s sitting here saying ‘this is a fair place.’ Well, it’s not fair. These guys are cheating and they should be in court for it…
“I’ll go and work somewhere else. Like I said, I don’t give a s***. If we’ve got to sue their a****, well then f*** you, you’re going to get sued. You scummy c****! The problem is everyone these days, ‘man, I want to get into the UFC.’ F*** the UFC! You’re s***! You mother****** don’t look after nobody!
“We’ll let this f****** white piece of s*** f****** stick needles in his a** and say, ‘oh, he’s going to take us all the way to the f***** bank.’ Let’s give him f****** millions of dollars and not worry about this mother******. You know what? F*** that and f*** your s*** company! Look at that for a contract. You can sue me on that, mother******.”
To say that Mark Hunt is upset would be an understatement. Hunt would also say that all the sport is is filled with nothing but “crooks and cheaters.” Some have taken issue to Hunts’ statement of calling Lesnar a “white piece of s***,” seemingly bringing race into the matter. In fairness to Hunt, Lesnar has referred to himself several times as a “jacked-up white boy.” So others think that if Lesnar wants to refer to himself as a “white boy” then Hunt can certainly do the same, or in this case, a “white piece of s***.”
Hunt also gave his opinion on how he thinks the UFC should handle PED violations. He suggested that anyone who cheats should “lose all of their fight earnings” and even be suspended for five or ten years. Mark Hunt pointed out how it doesn’t hurt someone like Brock Lesnar if he’s suspended for two years. It allows him to come in and make millions of dollars in one fight to then take two years off. But if fighters were to completely lose their career over PED violations then it would encourage athletes to never use them.
“Make them banned for five or ten years. There goes your career. Five, ten years, you have no career left and not only that, you lose all of your money. You’re done as a fighter. That’ll stop you from doing it. That’s what I want to see done. I won’t be a part of any company who says ‘we don’t mind you cheating or doing this or that,’ otherwise then every monkey will be [cheating].”
Mark Hunt’s remarks have been perceived by some as heroic and by others as controversial. The quoted comments of Mark Hunt in this article is just a drop in the bucket of everything this fighter had to say.
