SimCity users who have had so many problems getting online were offered a free game during the first week of the launch. Electronic Arts has finally made the list of games available.
EA had drawn quite a bit of ire from customers who were looking for a refund after they found that the “always online” game wasn’t allowing them to actually get online.
While EA wouldn’t give them a refund , and were actually threatening to ban people from Origin if they pursued the matter, the offer of a free game was considered a bit of an olive branch.
SimCity users have been waiting to find out exactly what games they would have the ability to get. Today the list has gone live, and it actually has some pretty popular games.
Maxis and EA sent out an email to customers who had registered their copy of SimCity with another apology and how to redeem a free copy of eight different games through Origin.
The eight games that have been offered up will be free to anyone who registers a copy of the offending title between now and March 25. Anyone who wants a new game must make their pick by March 30.
The games that will be made available are Bejeweled 3, Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Plants vs Zombies , and SimCity 4 .
Of that group, SimCity 4 stands out simply because it seems a bit odd that someone who just purchased the new game would want a lesser version of the game that is 10 years old.
It is possible that EA has offered that title up because it does allow city building without having to be online at all times.
If you purchased SimCity , does offering up any of these games make you feel better about the problems you had?
