Lindsay Lohan’s new movie The Canyons was rejected by the South by Southwest Festival due to “quality issues.”

The movie, which was also rejected from Sundance, was supposed to be a major cornerstone in Lohan’s comeback to the A-list. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like The Canyons is going to help Lohan’s career. Hey, at least she still has Scary Movie 5 .

According to the Hollywood Reporter , the movie was rejected for quality issues. An insider said that the film had “an ugliness and a deadness to it.” Who knows what that means exactly but it doesn’t sound good.

Canyons producer Braxton Pope said that he hasn’t received an official rejection from the festival yet. But if the organizers of SXSW think that the movie has a “deadness” to it, they probably won’t be showing it at the festival.

The Canyons stars Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen. It was directed by Paul Schrader, who wrote Taxi Driver, and was written by Bret Easton Ellis.

Scharder defended the movie after it was rejected from Sundance saying that the movie wasn’t rejected due to quality.

Scharder said : “In a way it’s good we’re not at Sundance. We weren’t prepared, we weren’t organized.”

Here’s a clip from The Canyons.

Are you surprised that Lohan’s new movie got rejected by SXSW?
