Lifetime has canceled Army Wives after seven seasons.

The network is planning a two-hour retrospective with the show’s cast that will air early next year.

“It has been an honor to be the home of Army Wives . We also want to thank Army Wives ‘ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series.”There is no denying how special Army Wives has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape,” Rob Sharenow, the network’s executive vice president, said in a statement .

“By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country.”

Sharenow added:

“It has been an honor to be the home of Army Wives . We also want to thank Army Wives ‘ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series. Without their dedication, effort and loyalty, Army Wives ‘ seven wonderful seasons would not have been possible; and for that we are very grateful.”

Lifetime renewed Army Wives for a 13-episode seventh season last September. The season premiered on March 10, drawing 2.38 million viewers. The season — and series — finale aired on June 9 and drew 2.41 million viewers. The seventh season also saw the addition of four new main cast members: Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries ‘ Torey DeVitto, singer Ashanti, Elle McLemore, and Brooke Shields. DeVitto’s PLL co-star Brant Daugherty also appeared in a recurring role.

Brian McNamara, who played Lt. Gen. Michael Holden, thanked fans for their support on Twitter Tuesday, writing, “I have to say to all our fans… We’ve been so honored telling these stories with your overwhelming loyalty and support!!”

Catherine Bell, who played Denise Sherwood, confirmed the show’s cancellation on Twitter.

“Yes it’s true. Sorry to say…But.. was an amazing 7 yr run thx to all of YOU!! Xoxo onwards & upwards as they say!”
