Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger Hated Each Other For 20 Years
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly hated each other for over two decades. The actors revealed their dark secret while promoting their flick Escape Plan.
Although you wouldn’t know it from their recent cinematic output, both action stars had a serious problem with one another during their heyday. Since the two are older and wiser, they’ve mended their relationship in order to take Hollywood by storm once again.
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed their hatred for each other during a recent chat with Bang Showbiz. They might be cinematic pals now, but that wasn’t the case several years ago.
“[We] really disliked each other intensely for 20 years. It goes to show you, a good enemy is hard to find. Eventually you sort of appreciate [them]. Maybe the reason we were so competitive was it made us get to where we are,” the Rocky star explained.
Despite their decades-long rivalry, this didn’t stop Hollywood producers from trying to put the guys in a movie together. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently told Access Hollywood that several scripts were reportedly dropped in their laps over the years, though none of them were really worth pursuing.
“The interesting thing really, is that for decades, they’ve tried to put us together in a movie and the scripts were horrible. It was like dreadful. We could not have accepted any of that,” the Terminator star explained during the interview.
He added, “One movie wanted us to be undercover agents in drag, and another movie wanted us to change from human beings to animals. So he was the dog and I was the cat and we were fighting each other. It was some comedy. It was all this ludicrous stuff.”
Escape Plan, which also stars Jim Caviezel and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, opens in theaters on Friday (October 18). Check out the trailer for the flick below.
