Kerry Washington To Host ‘SNL’ With Eminem As Musical Guest
Kerry Washington will be hosting an upcoming Saturday Night Live episode with Eminem as the musical guest.
The Scandal star will host the sketch comedy for the first time on November 2. Eminem will be making his sixth appearance on SNL after a three-year hiatus. The “Berzerk” rapper made his debut on October 23, 1999, eight months after the release of his major label debut The Slim Shady LP. He most recently appeared on the Studio 8H stage with Lil Wayne on December 18, 2010, earning a spot in the Five-Timers Club.
The 40-year-old Detroit rapper will perform songs from his upcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The first installment, his second studio album, was released in May 2000 and sold 1.76 million copies in its first week, breaking the records set by Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle as the fastest selling hip-hop album and Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time as the fast selling solo album. The album has been certified 10x platinum by the RIAA.
Kerry Washington was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Olivia Pope in ABC’s Scandal. The award went to Claire Danes for her role as Carrie Mathison in Showtime’s Homeland. Danes won the award in 2012 as well, beating out Glenn Close (Damages), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Kathy Bates (Harry’s Law) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men).
While Washington didn’t win Outstanding Lead Actress, co-star Dan Bucatinsky won the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
The third season of Scandal premiered October, drawing a series high of 10.52 million viewers. The series earned a 3.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, up 71 percent from last season’s premiere (2.1), and up 13 percent from the season two finale (3.2).
NBC previously announced that Edward Norton and Janelle Monae will feature on the Halloween episode of Saturday Night Live on October 26.
