Impeach Obama? Texas Governor Dewhurst Calls For Obama Impeachment

Another call to impeach Obama has been publicly made, this time coming from Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the subject of an Obama impeachment came up during the Million Vet March and the Truckers Ride For The Constitution protest over the weekend.

This writer has even seen people in his local area holding signs above highways claiming America needs to impeach Obama. But, hey, nothing beats a giant Obama Hitler poster hung up at one mall.

With the national mood getting so sour toward the President, perhaps it’s with no surprise that the Obama impeachment has come up once again in official circles.

Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst is a former CIA officer who is involved in a primary race against three Republican rivals and he had some strong words for the President:

“This election is about protecting you and your freedoms, which are given to you by God, but which are being trampled on by Barack Obama right now. I don’t know about you, but Barack Obama ought to be impeached. Not only for trampling on our liberties, but what he did in Benghazi is just a crime.”

Speaking about the Benghazi scandal, Dewhurt feels “very strongly about the tragedy in Benghazi and has said that Congress should consider impeaching the president over the tragedy.” Dewhurt “also believes that President Obama should be held accountable for Washington’s failure to secure the border and the gross overreach of the federal government under Obamacare.”

But an Obama impeachment is no simple matter. As defined by the US Consitution, articles of impeachment must start in the House Of Representatives. Although Republicans have a solid majority in the House, and they might be able to impeach Obama successfully there, the Constitution also provides a balance of power by putting the power to enforce a Presidential impeachment into the hands of the Senate. Even Senator Ted Cruz, who won against Dewhurst in Texas in 2012, says that attempting to impeach Obama in the House is a waste of time because the US Senate would never enforce it due to the Democratic majority.
