Hillary Clinton Gets Parking Ticket In London
Hillary Clinton recently got a parking ticket while she was attending an event at the Chatham House in London.
According to the BBC, the silver Mercedes used by the former US Secretary of State was given a ticket for parking illegally outside of the Chatham House.
The NY Daily News reports that Hillary’s car was parked in a metered area near that Chatham House that costs about $5.00 per hour to park. Clinton’s security detail reportedly tried to convince the officers to remove the ticket but they didn’t have any luck.
Westminster City Council cabinet member for business Daniel Astaire said that Clinton was parked illegally for about 45 minutes and that he agreed with the traffic officer’s decision to give her a ticket.
Astaire said: “The former US Secretary of State was parked for nearly 45 minutes without paying. I’m sure she will understand that we have to be fair to everyone, regardless of their status on the world stage. Despite our traffic marshal being questioned by the secret service for just doing his job, he was in the right.”
Hillary Clinton, who was awarded the Chatham House Prize for her work on behalf of gender equality, has not commented on the ticket yet but it looks like she’ll have to pay an £80 fine (about $130).
