Rebecca Sedwick Was ‘Bullied To Death’, Two Girls Arrested
Rebecca Sedwick was only 12-years-old when, on September 9, she went alone to a deserted concrete plant, climbed a tower and jumped to her death.
Two teenage girls who have been arrested in Florida, are alleged to have bullied Rebecca literally to her death. The trouble started when Rebecca began to date an ex-boyfriend of one of the girls.
The two girls have not been named for legal reasons, but it is known that one of the girls who was arrested used to be Rebecca Sedwick’s best friend.
In a campaign of hate which included up to 15 teens, social media was used as a platform to bully Rebecca to the point of suicide. One of the arrested girls is alleged to have threatened to beat Rebecca up and told her to “drink bleach and die.”
Rebecca’s mother, Tricia Norman, spoke to reporters about one particular message that her daughter received, which she said she just couldn’t get out of her head.
It read: “You haven’t killed yourself yet? Go jump off of a building.”
Due to their age. the arrested teens were released to their parents custody. The 14-year-old girl apparently immediately took to her Facebook page and posted that she had bullied Rebecca and “didn’t care.”
The pair have been charged with felony aggravated stalking by the police. A man who answered the phone at one of the girl’s houses said to reporters: “none of it’s true. My daughter’s a good girl and I’m 100 percent sure that whatever they’re saying about my daughter is not true,” he said.
It remains to be seen what the outcome of the case will be and if other people involved in the suicide case of Rebecca Sedwick will be arrested.
