Jon Bon Jovi walked a superfan down the aisle during her Las Vegas wedding this weekend.
Australian bride Branka Delic started an online campaign to have Bon Jovi walk her down the aisle when she married Gonzalo Cladera. Delic’s Facebook page, “ Bon Jovi, Walk Me Down the Aisle? ” received almost 1,800 likes when it attracted media attention in the United States.
The campaign then caught the eye of the 51-year-old “Shot Through the Heart” singer, who happened to be performing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena the same night as Delic and Cladera’s wedding.
The chapel where the couple planned to wed — Graceland Wedding Chapel — is where Bon Jovi married wife Dorothea in 1989. The couple said they had always planned to marry there since Delic is such a big Bon Jovi fan.
Jon Bon Jovi had a meet-and-greet scheduled for 5:30 pm October 12, which overlapped with Delic and Cladera’s wedding. So the New Jersey native had a limo pick the couple up to meet him at 4:30.
“Bridezilla came out when they called,” Delic said. “I wasn’t even dressed, so it was like ‘Get my dress! Paint my nails.’ My family weren’t there, my uncle was meant to walk me down the aisle, so it was just the two of us when Jon came. The family came down after he’d gone. It was the talk of the wedding. We almost forgot we had gotten married we were so excited about Bon Jovi being there.”
Delic said she was in awe when she met Bon Jovi, who told her she looked beautiful and hugged her.
“I think I creeped him a bit too, I think he thought I was a creep because I kept staring at him and touching him,” she said. “He looked so much better than I thought he would. I kept saying to him ‘I can’t believe you took time out of your schedule for me.’ Who am I? I’m a nobody. He deserves all the success he’s got.”
The Elvis impersonator at the chapel even played the opening to “Livin’ on a Prayer” for the wedding. And Delic got a special souvenir from the chapel.
“They gave me a copy of his marriage certificate, so I’ve got the best souvenir of my life,” she said. “All the photos from my wedding and his certificate, it’s all going above my bed when I get home.”‘
Jon Bon Jovi congratulated Branka Delic and Gonzalo Cladera on Twitter after the ceremony.
