Mariah Carey announced her new single, “The Art of Letting Go,” from her upcoming album of the same name.
Carey will release the single, the second from the album, on November 11.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that my brand new single ‘THE ART OF LETTING GO’, will be released here exclusively on my Facebook page on 11.11.2013,” Carey wrote on the social network . “This song is so personal to me and I’m very excited to share this experience with you in such an intimate way.”
The 43-year-old previously posted an open letter to fans on Facebook Friday and said that her recent shoulder injury has been “the toughest experience of my life.” She said her doctors expected it to take eight months and couldn’t believe she recovered so quickly.
Mariah Carey also explained that her new album will run the gamut of emotions.
“This is, to me, one of the most important albums I’ve ever made in my life,” she wrote. “If you’re a lamb, a fan, or just a human being that needs to feel good, happy, sad, miserable, joyous… ‘I gotcha’ (said like Roc- you haven’t heard how he says it yet but you will soon, it’s a complete+total classic!)”
Carey announced in June that the release date for The Art of Letting Go was being pushed back . The album was scheduled to hit shelves July 23, but Carey announced on Twitter that she didn’t feel she would be doing the album justice by releasing it so soon.
“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs,” she wrote. “I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”
“The Art of Letting Go” is the follow-up to Mariah Carey’s most recent single, “#Beautiful,” which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
