Gun Group Marks Newton Massacre Anniversary As ‘Guns Save Lives Day’

Three pro-gun groups have decided to declare December 14 as “Guns Saves Lives Day.” This date is significant because it marks the one-year anniversary that 26 people tragically lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School. 20 of those individuals were children.

Before you think that this is a reporting of a tacky joke written by a phony website, we’re here to tell you that unfortunately it’s not.

A press release was published by the Second Amendment Foundation, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and DefendGunRight.com. This statement issued that “Guns Save Lives Day” is the same date as the Sandy Hook School massacre.

So what will “Guns Save Lives Day” carry out? The message of “Guns Save Lives Day” is to remind people that “crazy people, criminals and gun control extremists prefer unarmed victims.”

Alan Gottlief, the president of the Second Amendment Foundation and chairman of the Citizens Committe said:

“In the coming weeks, you can go to GunsSaveLivesDay.com and get updates on this open source national project that all freedom loving organizations are invited to be a part of.”

Larry Ward, the founder of DefendGunRights.com elaborated about the “Guns Save Lives Day” event:

“The event is designed to counteract what certainly will be a day of activism and misinformation from the gun prohibition lobby. We wanted to ensure that the public has the facts on gun rights and understand how many Americans stand with them in defense of Second Amendment rights.”

For those who are in support of “Guns Save Lives Day” can sign a petition over at GunSaveLives.com.

This isn’t the only occasion that gun supporters have advocated for gun support following the events of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre. Armed customers of Starbucks had attended a rally at the coffee shop in Newton, while activists made plans to come down on Washington with firearms.
