Connie Britton Says Kyle Chander Not Interested In ‘Friday Night Lights’ Movie
Connie Britton revealed on Monday that a Friday Night Lights movie script has been written and is ready for primetime. She also revealed that the movie likely won’t happen.
According to Britton, Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) doesn’t like the idea of making a FNL movie.
Talking to Watch What Happens: Live the actress says “There’s been a lot of talk about a lot of things. Some people are really excited about it and some people aren’t.” Britton says she loves the idea of a Friday Night Lights movie but admits that Chandler is right in pointing out that the TV show was already based off a 2004 movie.
Kyle Chandler isn’t the only actor to be against the FNL movie, Scott Porter, who played Jason Street on the series, has also expressed some concern. Porter recently told Entertainment Weekly, “I’d put 50/50 odds on it. I’m so scared we would never be able to top the show. And I wouldn’t want what we did together tarnished in any way.”
Here’s more from the Connie Britton interview:
As a fan of the show I was happy with the way things wrapped up on Friday Night Lights. However, seeing where the players, coaches, and other show stars ended up would still be a nice addition to the series.
If Friday Night Lights takes us on a new journey it might be worth watching. If the movie is just a rehashing of the same played out scenarios it probably wouldn’t be worth the 90 minutes spent sitting in a dark theater.
Would you be willing to see Friday Night Lights retold with a movie worthy storyline?
