Mariah Carey Brings In Jermaine Dupri As Her New Manager
Mariah Carey recently tapped music producer Jermaine Dupri as her new manager.
The singer announced on Monday that Dupri would head up her management team. Carey was previously under the supervision of American Idol alum Randy Jackson.
“A multi-talented artist of Mariah’s caliber should be doing everything imaginable. I’m sure others have said this, but not the way I intend to do it. For me, it’s about the execution,” Jermaine Dupri recently said in a statement.
This certainly isn’t the first time Dupri and Mariah Carey have worked together. According to the folks at the Los Angeles Times, the producer previously helped the singer create the tunes “We Belong Together,” “Always Be My Baby,” and “Shake It Off.”
“We have a bond that surpasses music. I am super excited about our merger because we have so many innovative ideas that I know will come to fruition,” Carey explained in a press release.
Hot New Hip-Hop reports that the singer is currently hard at work on her new album The Art Of Letting Go. Unfortunately, it’s unclear when Mariah Carey hopes to have the collection of songs ready for mass consumption. A release date isn’t available just yet.
During her conversation with Billboard magazine earlier this year, the singer said the new album will feature several “raw ballads,” a fact which may surprise some of her fans.
“It’s about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that’s the most important thing. Wherever we go with this project, I’ve tried to keep the soul and heart in it with me obviously as the through-line,” she told the publication.
Carey’s last non-Christmas album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel hit retail shelves back in 2009. The collection of tunes sold approximately 546,000 copies in the United States, earning the singer yet another gold record.
