Megyn Kelly Obliterates Maddow, Morgan In Ratings

Megyn Kelly obliterates her competition, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Piers Morgan, on the first night of her new show The Kelly File.

The Fox News move must have everyone doing the happy dance at the conservative network.

The anchor, who previously had a daytime spot called America Live, was recently put smack in the middle of the prime time ratings battle after a reshuffling of the channel’s evening shows.

The Kelly File airs at 9 pm ET on the Fox News Channel, opposite The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC and CNN with Piers Morgan Tonight.

If the other two networks didn’t think that the firecracker blonde, who is also an attorney, would impact their numbers, well, they were in for a big surprise as the ratings confirmed that Kelly crushed her competitors.

According to Nielsen, the television ratings site, Megyn Kelly had 2.1 million viewers in the 9 pm spot, with Maddow coming in a distant second with less than one million and Morgan in third with 530,000.

Ultra conservative talk show host Sean Hannity previously held the time slot, but was moved to make room for the brand new Kelly File. However, there is no need to feel sorry for Sean; he was tuned in by 1.8 million viewers last week.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow usually does well in the 25-54 demographics, which is what rules the news business, according to Nielsen.

During her first show, Megyn Kelly interviewed Ted Cruz, the Texas Senator at the center of the government shutdown and asked him: “What does it feel like to be the most hated man in America?”

Cruz didn’t take it personally, brushing off the title and saying that the Democrats are engaging in “a battle of personalities.”

Megyn Kelly is known for being outspoken on all matters, political and otherwise; much like Bill O’Reilly, another of the Fox anchors. Did you watch The Kelly File?
