Trayvon Martin Day In Pittsburgh High School Upsets Parents, Twitter Users
Trayvon Martin Day is proving unpopular in a Pittsburgh High School where parents are upset.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, George Zimmerman was not arrested again as some reports alleged. But he did have a falling out with his wife Shellie, who now doubts his self defense story. George Zimmerman is now in hiding and receiving renewed death threats.
The original Trayvon Martin Day was declared at a D.C. elementary school back in May of 2012. Each person who attended the event was handed a free Arizona iced tea and a bag of skittles, which is what Trayvon Martin bought at a local convenience store before being shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Supposedly, the message was to “stop bullying.”
The planned Trayvon Martin Day at Carrick High School in Pittsburgh upset parents for various reasons. The Trayvon Martin Day celebration happened to coincide exactly with homecoming and students were encouraged to wear hoodies to school.
Parents were worried about how people might react but other parents supported Trayvon Martin Day, saying, “If they want to wear the hoodies to represent him and the kind of person he was, they should do it.”
Still, the controversy was enough for school advisers to cancel Trayvon Martin Day in favor of a very politically neutral Bucco Hat Day.
But Twitter users seem even more upset than parents over any plans for a Trayvon Martin Day:
