Megyn Kelly Makes Prime Time Debut, Interviews Ted Cruz
Before Megyn Kelly took her spot in prime-time she promised her fans that she would not be another Bill O’Reilly. But that doesn’t mean that The Kelly File wouldn’t feature a few awkward and confrontational interviews.
Kelly started her show last night by asking her first guest, Senator Ted Cruz, what it was like being the most hated man in America. Kelly said that Cruz was viewed unfavorably by 45% of respondents in a recent poll.
She also said that the public’s unfavorable opinion of Cruz could be hurting the GOP.
“Look, I think there have been more than a few Democrats who were throwing rocks in my direction… They are throwing every insult they can… Look, what the Democrats are trying to do is make this a battle of personalities, they have engaged in relentless, nasty personal attacks. You just played several of them. I don’t intend to defend myself. I don’t intend to reciprocate.”
Kelly started her show with a few tough questions for Cruz but she ended the show on a different note. Kelly, who is a new mother, introduced her baby on The Kelly File last night.
Kelly promised her viewers last night that she was not going to be an opinion host like Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly. The news anchor did say, however, that she would call people out if they were acting like idiots.
Kelly said:
“I’m not going to be the female Bill O’Reilly… I’m a news anchor, I’m not an ideologue. I don’t want to be an opinion anchor… People know that they are going to get the real me when I go out there,” she said. “If somebody comes on and is a moron, I’m going to call them out.”
Do you think The Kelly File will be a hit?
