Qualcomm today announced that “future” phones with Snapdragon processors will feature the ability to use Netflix Streaming Technology.
The devices, such as the LG Revolution will meet DRM requirements, a needed authorization for Watch Instantly technology, however, devices from the past such as your older Android device with a Snapdragon processor are not mentioned.
The move puts the Google Android OS in line with Apple’s iOS and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 systems in terms of DRM capabilities.
Not only will phone manufacturers have a turnkey process for the Watch Instantly technology, Qualcomm will also provide better “dedicated decoding” to enhance battery life and to improve picture quality for Netflix streaming videos over mobile Anroid devices.
More details will hopefully be revealed at Mobile World Congress this week.
