A new film starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger is closer to its release, and Escape Plan is generating a level of across the board excitement that really makes it feel like we’re partying like it’s 1987.
Knock us over with a feather that Sylvester Stallone and Schwarzenegger can heat up movie audiences so much when we live in the future, but it’s happening.
The film Escape Plan has a simple, retro-action-movie premise — that the lead character designed a crazy-secure supermax style prison, and soon discovers himself on the inside. Not only does he have to team up with an inmate, they have to escape the facility he designed to be escape-proof, and unravel the plot to imprison him.
Can we just talk for a minute about how, 30 years later, Sylvester Stallone and Ahnold don’t look at all like old men? I mean, this is no Zac Efron style youthfulness here, but they certainly don’t look grandpa age.
A widely circulated synapsis of Escape Plan reads:
“Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world’s foremost authority on structural security, agrees to take on one last job: breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called ‘The Tomb.’ But when he is wrongly imprisoned, he must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built.”
The trailer illuminates the plot:
And Schwarzenegger has a scene with the baddie warden as well:
It looks like Rocky has been busy — the action star hasn’t been over on Twitter since August 6, when he tweeted:
GREEDY AND LAZY…… A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE

Seriously, is this the most 80s thing since Zack Morris busted out a prehistoric cell phone on late-night TV?
In addition to Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film stars Jim Caviezel, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
