Thanks, Obama: Air Force Is Out Of Toilet Paper Following Shutdown
In addition to some 800,000 government workers furloughed, the government shutdown is having a real impact on our armed forces. Take the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. They were asked to hold it – literally – due to a massive toilet paper shortage.
Luckily, the issue was resolved pretty quickly.
“This is one of those things where complex organizations – we’re not always aware at a high level who has the contracts with the toilet paper but we found out pretty fast and we fixed it,” Superintendent of the Air Force Academy Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson told Fox21News.
Though she found the humor in the situation, she admitted that solving the problem before things got messy was important.
“There’s some real basics required for things,” she said.
Now that they have their toilet paper, students can spend as much time as they need on the can catching up with some scholastic reading (if you went to college, don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about) since about 20 percent of the courses have been shut down.
At a press conference Thursday afternoon, Johnson said that about 60 of the 300 course offered had been suspended because specialized teachers had been furloughed.
These include over 500 non-excepted civilian employees.
As we reported previously, Saturday’s Air Force versus Navy football game is still on, but only due to a private donation from the USAA. The only problem there is that no one will be in attendance except the team.
Future games are canned, as well.
“All intercollegiate sports are canceled,” Johnson said.
We can’t help but wonder if a new shipment of toilet paper cost some of the Air Force’s civilian employees their jobs…
