Mega Millions Jackpot: $189 Million Ticket, Still Unclaimed
A massive $189 million is yet to be claimed by someone who bought the winning Mega Millions ticket from a gas station in Maryland.
Lottery officials have confirmed that there were six winning tickets from Tuesday night’s draw but that only the sixth, so far unclaimed ticket, also had the matching Powerball number making the ticket worth $189 million.
The winning ticket, purchased at the Dash In convenience store just behind the Citgo gas station in Severn, matched the five winning numbers: 7, 10, 30, 37 and 53 as well as the Mega Ball winning number which was 1.
The owner of the sixth ticket stands to take home around $126 million if they opt for the cash payout. Once they come forward to claim their prize they can also go for the annuity option and take the full $189 million, minus taxes.
Two of the other winning tickets were purchased in California while the other three were bought in Arkansas, Massachusetts and Michigan. In May this year Joe Garofalo from Tinton Falls, N.J. won a massive $198 Mega Millions jackpot.
Lottery officials are eager for the winner of the Mega Millions jackpot to come forward and claim their prize. According to Lottery rules a winner has one year to claim their prize money or it is forfeited.
