Kendrick Lamar had a few choice words for Drake during the recent BET Cypher. The clip is presently being used to promote the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
During TDE’s four-minute cypher, the rapper shared his thoughts and feelings about the Canadian-born musician. Not surprisingly, Kendrick Lamar didn’t have very many nice things to say. You can check out the clip below.
The rapper freestyled :
“Yeah… and nothing’s been the same since they dropped “Control”/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes/ Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five… I’m bulletproof/ Your sh**s a never penetrate, pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake…”
This isn’t the first time Kendrick Lamar called out Drake in a song. K. Dot mentioned the rapper on the Big Sean track “Control.” During an interview with Billboard magazine, Drake said he wasn’t too concerned about the rivalry or being murdered.
“It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic,” he said.
According to HipHopDX , Drake doesn’t view Kendrick Lamar as direct competition . However, he seems to understand why people are hung up on the guy.
“He’s super talented… That verse was a moment to talk about. Are you listening to it now, at this point in time? But it was real cool for a couple weeks,” Drake said.
He added, “I think Kendrick has the utmost potential. I see Kendrick tomorrow, I’ma dap him. I didn’t feel a way about the verse. I get it. I get the moment. And I know that verse had no malice behind it because I saw him five days later at the VMAs and it was all love.”
Love or no love, Kendrick Lamar seems to have it out for Drake right now. Check out the BET Cypher verse below.
