Cory Monteith’s Coroner Report: A Mix Of Heroin And Champagne Killed The Star

Cory Monteith died of a combination of heroin and champagne according to the final coroner’s report.

Several outlets are citing TMZ which reports the official result of the investigation into the Glee star’s death on July 13.

According to the website, the reports indicates that Monteith had been shooting heroin while drinking champagne in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada the night of his death.

Monteith had suffered from substance abuse issues since he was a young teenager, with his first bout coming at the young age of 12-years-old.

The actor was from Canada and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. At one point his family staged an intervention and the actor checked himself into rehab at the age of 19.

He worked in Canada in minor roles until an audition of him singing “Can’t Fight This Feeling” landed him the role of Finn, in the popular musical show Glee.

Cory Monteith was discovered alone in his Vancouver hotel room. Paramedics found a “spoon with drug residue and a used hypodermic needle” as well as two empty champagne glasses.

The coroner’s office lists the actor’s official cause of death as “mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol.”

The report indicates that Monteith’s tolerance for the deadly combination might have been lowered because he had stopped using drugs since his last rehab visit in April.

The coroner’s report indicated that Cory Monteith had a history of illicit drug use, with periods in which he was clean as well as relapses.

Last month, colleagues paid tribute to the young star during an Emmy tribute, which was laced with controversy because of the actor’s age and lack of main roles compared to other seasoned stars.

Cory Monteith was 31-years-old when he passed away earlier this summer, he starred in Glee since 2009.
