NBA 2k14 Arrives Just In Time For NBA Season, Thrills Critics

NBA 2k14 has arrived just ahead of the October 29, 2013 start of the NBA regular season.

The popular NBA basketball game was released on Tuesday for the Xbox 360 and PS3 gaming consoles. Xbox One and PS4 versions will be released when those systems arrive in November.

The game is receiving rave reviews from many critics who believe the newest addition to the franchise is an improvement over last years release.

The biggest complaint from some gamers is the overall rating system given to players. Jason Collins is the worst-rated player (50 out of 100), while LeBron James receives a 99 out of 100. Many players will agree on those two scores but complaints about mid-tier level players have surfaced.

NBA 2k14’s biggest praise comes by way of its graphics, gameplay, and star power. According to critics timing and movement has improved markedly. With new gameplay there are new controls which puts old and new players on an even playing field.

The game’s developers have also added a new “Path to Greatness” mode which allows gamers to create a new narrative for star player, Lebron James. In the Path To Greatness mode LeBron James starts out as a rookie and then works his way through the league.

The game developers for NBA 2k14 have proven once again that sports games are not all created equal. IGN calls the new offering the “best pro basketball game ever made” and provides it with a 9.3 out of 10 rating.

Interesting fact about the game that you might have missed. The games developers moved LeBron James’ headband further up his head after it slipped off his head during the 2013 NBA finals.

It’s that type of small attention to detail that helps add to the hyper-real feel of NBA 2k14.

Throw in NBA announcers that don’t seem like robots and this game appears to be a big winner for sports gamers, especially gamers who are obsessed with the ins and out of the NBA.
