Josh Freeman has responded to a report claiming the Buccaneers quarterback is a stage one participant in the NFL’s drug abuse program.
Freeman is in a battle for his NFL career at the moment, and he wisely decided that the best thing to do was clear the air as quickly as possible.
In a statement given to Pro Football Talk , he said, “Let me be very clear. I have NEVER tested positive for any illegal drugs or related substances. Further, I have agreed to take, and have PASSED 46 NFL-regulated drug tests over the last year and a half.”
Josh Freeman is very upset his medical confidentiality has been violated , and he has every right to be. At this point, it feels like the negatives surrounding the troubled star are hitting the public all at once.
Freeman doesn’t think it’s a coincidence , “It is a shame that when times have gotten tough, people have chosen to attack the character of others, rather than supporting each other. I remain dedicated and focused to being the best quarterback I can be and to help a team win a championship.”
The Buccaneers benched Josh Freeman in favor of rookie Mike Glennon last Sunday, a sign that Freeman’s tenure in Tampa Bay has expired.
Since the benching was announced, Freeman conducted an unauthorized interview admitting he wants to be traded or released . The Buccaneers, in response, made him inactive for last Sunday’s game.
At this point, it’s incredibly unclear who the problem in Tampa Bay is. It honestly just sounds like neither side likes each other very much, and now they are having a very ugly, and very public, divorce.
Do you think Josh Freeman is telling the truth? Is this the end of his NFL career?
