Eric Emil Lehtine Injects Son With Heroin To Delay Divorce
Eric Emil Lehtinen, a Washington state man, has been accused of attempting to kill his 4-year-old.
According to the Huffington Post, Lehtinen, 37, had been found unconscious with his son in their locked Redmond home.
The report continued on to say that police found a syringe filled with heroin sticking out of the boy’s chest.
According to The Seattle Times, Lehtinen tried to hill his 4-year-old son with heroin on the day his divorce was supposed to be finalized.
The Huffington Post reported that evidence of ketamine, morphine and codeine was also found in the child’s blood.
Both neighbors and police were shocked by the reports. Q13Fox reported Redmond police Lt. Charlie Gorman saying, “In 35 years as a police officer I’ve never run across anything like this.”
Neighbor Alex Marchand stated:
“I just don’t understand how messed up you have to be to inject your 4-year-old with heroin. Never heard of anything like this, never even had the thought cross my mind of anything like this happening in the world.”
The Seattle Times stated that it was Lehtinen’s soon-to-be-ex-wife that discovered Lehtinen and the boy unconscious at the home.
According to Q13Fox, Gorman stated that “there were injectable paraphernalia on the scene that we’ve located consistent with heroin use.”
The Huffington Post reported that court documents stated that Lehtinen wanted to delay the finalization of his divorce from the boy’s mother.
The report continued on to say that Lehtinen’s soon-to-be-ex-wife told police that her husband used heroin and ketamine in the past, but believed him when he said he had stopped.
The Seattle Times report continued on to say that Lehtinen is being held on $3 million bail and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
KIROTV reported that a search of Eric Emil Lehtinen’s home turned up several syringes and $12,620 in cash. If convicted, he could be sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.
