Monday Night Football Preview: Miami Dolphins Face Big Test Against New Orleans Saints
Monday Night Football pits the undefeated Miami Dolphin against Drew Brees and the undefeated New Orleans Saints.
The Miami Dolphins, led by second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill, have surprised the entire NFL with their 3-0 start. A number of pundits thought they would be contenders, but no one believed they would come out of the gate so strong.
Miami’s schedule has not been soft either. To get to 3-0, they had to beat the Atlants Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts. They face their biggest challenge of the season tonight against Drew Brees and the high powered Saints offense.
On paper, the matchup favors the New Orleans Saints. This season they are averaging 404 yards per game, 319 of which are coming through the air. The Dolphins, on the other hand, are averaging only 319 yards a game, with 249 coming through the air.
The Monday Night Football matchup is a chance for the Miami Dolphins to prove their legitimacy in the 2013 season. Ryan Tannehill will have to lead his team however to a lot of points to beat Drew Brees and New Orleans.
Miami will try to make New Orleans one-dimensional by shutting down the run. Unfortunately, that won’t work. The Saints love to run, but Drew Brees also loves to use passes to his running backs as part of his running game. Essentially, you can’t turn New Orleans into a one-dimensional passing team.
Monday Night Football should go to the Saints. The order is just too big to serve for the young Dolphins. Maybe I’m just not a believer yet though.
Do you think the Miami Dolphins can beat the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football?
