A recent PS4 vs Xbox One poll indicates that more gamers want Sony’s next-gen console, while the majority are likely waiting till later.
While for some of us here at The Inquisitr , the poll results are not surprising, the real surprise which could mean dark days for the overly optimistic game developers of the time is that most gamers don’t want either console yet. Could this be due to the Steam Box being announced recently with a theoretically superior controller and PC-style interface? Since the poll didn’t include the new Steam OS console, that factor has obviously not been considered.
What is known is that while Sony has hardly done anything to promote their console, Microsoft has been going out of their way to get the Xbox One in the public eye. Unfortunately for the Windows creators, they insist on a “vision” they’ve had since day one when they first introduced the next-gen console, and they aren’t really paying attention to consumers who on the most part clearly don’t want what they’re trying to push.
The PS4 vs Xbox One poll, hosted by Reuters , indicates that shoppers on the most part will not be part of the next-gen holiday rush. 26 percent are planning to buy the PlayStation 4 when it launches, while only 15 percent are going with the Xbox One. This leaves the majority either uninterested or waiting until later.
In essence, Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot while Sony is just sitting back and laughing at their shenanigans. Of course, neither appears to be in for the last laugh this year as an increasingly worrying economy is likely to blame for gamers not wanting to put hundreds of dollars into a console they’re not sure about.
Could it be that gamers are learning from console wars gone by and not jumping too quickly this time? It is realistically too early to tell which console will give us the best experience overall, as nobody has the PS4 or the Xbox One in their homes outside the development industry. Even though the PS4 appears to be clearly more powerful than the Xbox One, once again repeating history, it’s always been the games that have won us over in the end.
Did you vote in the PS4 vs Xbox One poll? If not, which one would you choose, or are you with the majority who isn’t buying either one yet?
