Ed Sheeran Calls Miley Cyrus’ Twerking ‘A Stripper’s Move’
Taylor Swift is still a huge Miley Cyrus fan, but Swift’s former tour mate Ed Sheeran isn’t quite sold. Sheeran is known for his acoustic music that puts a huge emphasis on his guitar playing, so it’s not surprising that he wouldn’t be a huge fan of Cyrus’ music when most of it highlights her twerking.
Although Sheeran isn’t thrilled with Cyrus, he doesn’t put all the blame on her. Ed revealed that he thinks, “She’s packaged the wrong way.” That’s fair enough considering Cyrus has overhauled her image in a huge way over the last year.
Sheeran continues to shed light on what he thinks is wrong with Miley Cyrus’ image: ‘When I first heard Wrecking Ball, I thought it was a brilliant song, but the video distracts too much from it.’
So what about Miley Cyrus’ twerking? Everyone seems to have an opinion on it these days. Of Cyrus’ twerking promotion, Sheeran said to The Daily Mail:
“I think encouraging young people to twerk might be a bad thing. It’s a stripper’s move. If I had a daughter of nine, I wouldn’t want her twerking.”
Sheeran was on hand during the MTV VMA Awards when Miley Cyrus took the stage. The singer was seen holding hands with singer Ellie Goulding during the ceremony. This of course sparked immediate rumors that the two were an item. Of the gossip mill Ed had said:
“She’s a really cool girl and she’s real talented. We just tour a lot. It was going on. And now it’s not.”
As for Sheeran’s former tour mate Taylor Swift, her opinion on Miley differs. Of Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance, Swift told Glamour: “There’s room for role models who make mistakes, There’s clearly room for role models who are made fun of at award shows.”
Do you agree with Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift?
