Luke Evans Covers ‘Delilah’ By Tom Jones During Charity Event [Video]

Luke Evans recently had a bout with one his favorite things, other than acting, he got a chance to sing in front of an audience. He chose “Delilah” by Tom Jones.

If you didn’t know Luke Evans could sing, well, he can. Actually he began his career in musicals, in the West End of London during the 2000s in such plays as La Cava, Taboo, Rent, Miss Saigon, and Avenue Q.

The context in which the impromptu performance took place was to support one of his The Hobbit co-stars, James Nesbitt’s (Corolianus, Monroe), charities.

The website Candid Chaos shared the unique videos, after Nesbitt, Evans, and Mark Carruthers came on stage for an evening of fundraising for the Mary Peters Trust.

The charity helps athletes in Northern Ireland, where Nesbitt hails, train for the next level in their sport. During the 2012 London Olympics, 22 athletes whom they have previously aided participated in different sports.

Luke Evans had a special treat for all those attending, a rare opportunity to hear and see him singing. Even though he started his career in music, he hasn’t pursued that in his film career.

The Welsh actor has hinted on different occasions on social media that he would be open to some day return to his musical roots.

He might, in his role as Eric Draven in his upcoming movie, The Crow, which is a reboot of the 1994 Brandon Lee film. He plays the title character, who is a musician.

Nothing has been said in this regard, and filming hasn’t even started for the production yet. This is just wishful thinking on part of this writer.

Luke Evans enchanted the audience when he came on stage at the Lyric Theater in Belfast on September 22. He sang Roberta Flack’s “The First Time I Saw Your Face” and Tom Jones’ “Delilah”.

What do you think of Luke Evans singing? Any good?
