NFL Gameday Preview: Bills Look To Upset Surging Ravens

The 1-2 Buffalo Bills are looking to upset the 2-1 Baltimore Ravens at home Sunday.

The matchup is surprisingly favorable for rookie quarterback EJ Manuel and the upstart Bills. The offense is averaging 350 yards per game, 135 of which are coming on the ground. Manuel has been surprisingly solid in his first NFL season, although he still succumbs to the occasional rookie mistake.

The Baltimore Ravens are only averaging 308 yards per game, with only 77 yards coming on the ground. The offense has been put in Joe Flacco’s hands, and the results have been mixed. Without Anquan Boldin or Dennis Pitta, Flacoo has had to rely on Torrey Smith, who while good, needs a complimentary piece to be great.

Ray Rice has been ineffective so far at running back, but he is also nursing a hip injury.

The last two weeks the Ravens have put up high scores, but it’s been with the heavy help of their defense. If EJ Manuel and the Bills can limit their offensive mistakes, and put up close to 21 points, they have a strong chance to upset the Ravens.

The upset would be one of the bigger ones so far this season. The Baltimore Ravens are the defending Super Bowl champions, and despite a season opening loss to the Broncos, have looked stellar the last two weeks.

The Buffalo Bills meanwhile, are in a rebuilding phase. Ryan Fitzpatrick fizzled at quarterback last year, causing Buffalo to fire their head coach and draft a quarterback. So far so good as there is excitement in Buffalo again.

Do you think the Buffalo Bills can upset the Baltimore Ravens?
